As the psalmist reflects on where to place his trust, he concludes that God alone is the safe repository of such devotion. Princes are no good; as soon as they die, their plans die with them (vs. 3 and 4).
But the Lord? He is the One who:
- made heaven and earth, and all that is in them (vs. 6).
- executes justice for the oppressed (vs. 7).
- gives food to the hungry (vs. 7).
- sets the prisoners free (vs. 7).
- opens the eyes of the blind (vs. 8).
- lifts up the bowed down (vs. 8).
- loves the righteous (vs. 8).
- watches over strangers (vs. 9).
- upholds orphans and widows (vs. 9).
- brings the way of the wicked to ruin (vs. 9).
Therefore God is the only One uniquely qualified to be our help and our hope!
