Some of Jesus' sayings are harder than others; His marching orders to His disciples as He sends them out in Matthew 10 definitely fall into the former category.
After the disciples are charged to go out without extra provisions and resources, Jesus gives them warnings about what awaits them. It is not a pretty picture. Conflict, trials, and persecutions are coming.
Yet through it all, Jesus also promises that they can operate without fear, secure in their relationship with Him.
The calling is a tough one, but what can compare to doing the will of the Lord? Then or now?
