We often wish this were the other way around, don't we? That pursuing a godly life in Christ is our ticket out of troubles and trials and persecutions?
Unfortunately, the opposite is true. Signing on to an authentic Christian journey virtually guarantees that we will face spiritual - and sometimes physical - opposition. We shouldn't anticipate a life of ease and comfort as a Christian. Instead, we should expect what is sure to come: challenges, and insults, and loss in the eyes of the world in order to experience gain in the eyes of Christ.
It may be an uncomfortable truth, but it's an exchange worth making!
