Psalm 6: The Lord Hears

Psalm 6 is an earnest prayer for deliverance.

At the beginning of the Psalm, we hear a desperate plea for mercy.  The Psalmist (David) is in agony and anguish.  He is begging the Lord to turn and free him from his miseries.  Even through verse 7, we are still hearing about the sad state of the Psalmist - he is worn out from groaning and his bed is drenched with tears.

But the Psalm pivots in vs. 8, because the Lord hears!  The Psalmist takes confidence in the knowledge that God is awake and aware of his situation.  With the Lord on his side, now it is his enemies' turn to be dismayed!

When you are in a pit like David describes in Psalm 6, may you remember that turning to the Lord is what we need to do for Him to turn to us.  Offer Him your prayers and petitions.  He still hears.
