- Babylon's destruction is complete. She is fallen; her streets are filled with demons, evil spirits and unclean birds.
- Babylon's destruction is fast. Again and again, we hear that it is over in an hour.
- Babylon's destruction is not meant for Christians. God's people are called out of her in verse 4.
- Babylon's destruction will be mourned by those who have profited from her: merchants and sea captains.
- Babylon's destruction involves the loss of great wealth. It is ruined (verse 17) and extensive (verses 22-23).
- Babylon's destruction is just. Even those who mourn for her (and their lost wages) agree that she got what was coming to her (verse 20).
- Babylon's destruction is lasting. The final pronouncements include the words "never again" in reflecting on people and activities that are usually found in cities (verses 21-23).
