- Obedience is critical. Several times Jesus says we will obey His commands if we love Him. (Don't forget that His command is that we love one another!)
- We will be with Jesus. Jesus says that we will be where He is (14:3) and that He and the Father will make their home with us (14:23) if we love Him and obey His teaching.
- He and the Father are one. In an echo of 10:30, Jesus expands on His relationship with the Father as being in the Father as well as the Father being in Him.
- The Holy Spirit is coming. Jesus promises the Counselor in 14:16 and 14:26 who will be with us forever as the Spirit of truth who will teach us and remind us of Jesus.
- He wants us to be comforted, not anxious. This chapter both begins (14:1) and ends (14:27) with Jesus' statement that we should not let our hearts be troubled or afraid.
