You can choose to be rooted like a tree or blown away like chaff.
The first Psalm contrasts the path of the righteous with the way of the wicked.
The righteous man is blessed, delighting in the law of the Lord, meditating on His law. As a result, he is like a well-watered tree, bearing fruit and leaves. Indeed, the righteous have a blessed and spiritually prosperous life, in the best sense of the word.
Rather than being firmly rooted in the Lord, however, the wicked are like wind-driven chaff. Here today, gone tomorrow. They cannot stand with the righteous, nor withstand the judgment.
Don't be chaff. Be a tree!
