Ephesians 3: Paul's Prayer

"And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God" (vs. 17-19)

Paul's prayer for us (you are included in "all the saints") is breathtaking in its scope, yet profoundly simple in its aim.  The objective of the prayer is to grasp the extent of Christ's love and to know this love.

Yet, how do you comprehend something that is limitless?  Dimensions of width and length and height and depth are not calculable when dealing with that which is infinite.  And to "know this love that surpasses knowledge?"  Here Paul is basically asking for the impossible!

To know the unknowable, to grasp the ungraspable...that is the quest of the Christian life when it comes to God's love!
