Mark 12:Q & A

It is Holy Week.  By the time we reach Mark 12, Jesus has arrived in Jerusalem for Passover, cleansed the Temple, and is now available to the religious authorities for their own investigation.  No longer do they have to send out spies and fact-finding teams.  They can look into Jesus' teaching for themselves.  Here are some of the questions that are fielded in the Q & A:

  • Should we pay taxes to Rome?
  • How can there be a resurrection when we don't understand how it applies to marriage?
  • What is the most important commandment?

After deftly answering each one - to the point that "no one dared to ask Him any more question" (vs. 34), Jesus then poses a question of His own: "How is the Messiah supposed to be David's son, when David calls Him Lord?"  In other words, Jesus makes the argument the Messiah will be greater than David, rather than less.

What would you ask Jesus if you had the opportunity to ask him something in a Q & A?
