Psalm 84: Want To Be Happy?

Want to be happy?  (And I'm not talking about one of the seven dwarfs here!)  Psalm 84 contains valuable advice and wisdom for those pursuing happiness in life.

Psalm 84 is definitely a happy psalm!  Here are its references to joy and happiness.  Take special note of what is responsible for the psalmist's happy mood:
  • My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God (vs. 2).
  • Happy are those who live in your house, ever singing your praise (vs. 4).
  • Happy are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion (vs. 5).
  • O Lord of hosts, happy is everyone who trusts in you (vs. 12).
Do you see a theme developing here?  The psalmist is in love with God, and the joyful nature of their relationship fills his heart.  Even the temple inspires him to sing with joy.  His conclusion?  "For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.  I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than live in the tents of wickedness" (vs. 10).

Do you love God that much?  Do you take such joy and pleasure in His presence?  You can!

The psalmist's conclusion can be your conclusion, too!  Find your happiness in the Lord - it's the very best way to live!
