Psalm 101: Resolution Of Righteousness

In Psalm 101, David lists several practical ways that he plans to cut off evil and live an upright life.

He promises to "walk with integrity" and not gaze upon anything "base" (vs. 2 and 3).  David also vows to keep himself far from the idea of backsliding and falling away.  Meanwhile, he will be keeping himself pure and abstaining from perversion and evil.

He plans to cut off from himself anyone who secretly slanders others and maintains a haughty and prideful heart.  David says he will remove liars from his presence and household, and he states his intention to rid the city of the Lord of all evildoers.

He will replace these negative influences and sinful characters with purer, positive ones.  In his mouth will be songs of loyalty and justice as he sings to the Lord (vs. 1).  He will "study" the way that is blameless (vs. 2).  The sinful people that he is casting off will be exchanged for those who are faithful and lead lives of integrity.

David's resolution of righteousness would be a good one for us to follow even today!
