Psalm 122: Are You Glad?

How do you feel about going to church?  Does it seem like just another chore to fit into an already packed weekend?  Would you rather take it easy and sleep in?  Or is your heart lightened with joy and gladness at the thought of being in the Lord's house?  Psalm 122 is an expression of love of worship in the sanctuary.

The King James Version of Psalm 122:1 gives us probably the most famous translation.  "I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord."   The Psalmist (reputed to be David) professes his gladness to be invited to worship in the Temple.  This is a love song for Jerusalem as he encourages others to pray for the peace of the city.

Have you ever thought about loving your church fellowship this way?  To desire to be in the presence of the Lord and in fellowship with other believers?  Next week, when it comes time to attend worship, will you be able to say, "My heart is glad!"?
