Psalm 106: Rebels Without A Clue

If you've ever wondered what the Old Testament looks like from God's perspective, Psalm 106 points us in that direction.

Again and again we hear of occasions of Israel's rebellion, from their time in Egypt, through the wilderness, and into the Promised Land.  The people never seem to learn that God has their best interests at heart.  They stubbornly refuse to follow Him and rebelliously seek their own will instead.  Although God would have been justified at any point to give up on them and pursue another plan, "nevertheless he regarded their distress when he heard their cry" (vs. 44).  This psalm serves as a confession of the sins of Israel and a plea for God's restoration and salvation to once again spare a people who deserve destruction.
