Job 32: Eli-Who?

The words of Job may be ended, but there is a lot of the Book of Job remaining!  Settle in for 6 chapters of a speech by Elihu.  Elihu comes out of nowhere - he was not mentioned earlier - but he is indeed "full of words" (vs. 18).

Four times in Job 32 the young man Elihu is described as angry.  He is angry at Job for his declaration of righteousness, and he is angry at Job's three friends for their inability to refute him.  Out of anger he spews forth a torrent of words.  He says he his heart is like new wine that is about to burst forth out of wineskins (vs. 19).  Only speaking his mind will relieve his spirit.

Elihu is best understood as a young, passionate man unable to keep from speaking what he believes to be right.  He is going to show these old fogies that the younger generation has it all figured out!
