...there was red heifer!
The ceremony of the red heifer is described in Numbers 19. A red cow would be slaughtered and burned to ashes. Those ashes would then become instrumental in the purification ritual to make someone or something clean again after having touched a dead body. The ashes of the red heifer would be added to water for cleansing. People and articles would be sprinkled with this water on the third day and seventh day of their uncleanness to be made clean again. If they do not undergo this ritual, they are perpetually unclean (vs. 20).
Today red heifers are extremely rare - as in, they have not been found in Israel for 2000 years! In discussions of end-times prophecy, many people are looking forward to the breeding and birth of a pure red heifer in Israel so that this ceremony - in conjunction with a new Temple - can be resumed. Many people predict the Red Heifer will miraculously return at the end of time so that the ritual of cleansing can once again be undertaken.
So enjoy that Red Bull - but get ready for a Red Heifer, too!
