Genesis 20: A Close Call

Remember when Abraham tried to pass Sarah off as his sister back in Genesis 12?  Yeah, well he's back to his old tricks again in Genesis 20.

This time, it's Abimelech in the Negev instead of Pharaoh in land of Egypt.  Fearing that his marriage with Sarah would result in him being killed, Abraham once again pleads with her to only mention their sibling relationship.  (We find out in this chapter that Abraham and Sarah are half-siblings, sharing a father but not a mother.)  As a result, Abimelech decides to bring Sarah into his harem.

Fortunately, a crisis is averted.  Though it is a close call, Abimelech is warned by God that he has taken another man's wife.  Abimelech quickly restores Sarah to Abraham, and the curse is lifted from his household.

Abraham really has to stop doing stuff like this!
