I Chronicles 9: Nuts And Bolts

I Chronicles 9 gives us a peek at some of the daily activities that took place around the tabernacle and the temple.

Gatekeepers were chosen to guard the entrances to "the tent" (vs. 23).  A seven-day rotation system was put into place for the 212 gatekeepers assigned to share this responsibility.

Later, in the temple itself, some Levites served by being in charge of the articles used in worship, mixing the spices, and baking the bread.  Other Levites lived in the temple rooms and were in charge of the music.

It seems that a rather busy community sprang up around the temple who bore the responsibilities of worship leading and building maintenance (i.e. "the nuts and bolts").
